The Three Gorges Corporation announced that the first rock-embedded steel pipe pile for the Three Gorges Waterway New Passage project’s temporary Lianxia Wharf has been successfully constructed, marking the full-scale commencement of the project’s key infrastructure works. This major multi-functional project integrates water conservancy, navigation, and ecological goals. Once completed, the Three Gorges and Gezhouba hubs will feature four shiplock lines, significantly enhancing the navigational capacity of the Yangtze River’s "golden waterway" and supporting sustainable development of the Yangtze River Economic Belt. Equipped with two temporary wharfs, Lianxia and Xia’anxi, both designed for efficient transportation of large-scale construction materials, the project is set to boost monthly logistics capacity up to 1 million tons during peak construction. Scheduled milestones include Lianxia Wharf’s August completion for roll-on-roll-off berths and December readiness for Xia’anxi Wharf. Innovative construction techniques are being utilized to meet tight deadlines and demanding standards, optimizing efficiency and ensuring progress.
